Sidewalks
2010-2012
This body of work began with curiosity during my first year living in The Bay Area, CA. I thought about temporality, and our desire to be remembered. I was paying attention to carvings in concrete surfaces. I was also living in a new city all together and curious about the facade and how rugged and covered it is as a comparison. I did a study of the people and mapped where they would carve more than once. Human cartography was the way I became close to strangers and their paths. I used rubbings and multi print media/photo based processes to make intaglio etchings of the sidewalks and different perspectives of the streets in cities that I traveled to during those years.
